Avocado – the amazing fruit for Fertility

The avocado was considered the "fertility fruit" in ancient times by the Aztecs. The stone in the avocado resembles a baby in the womb and it takes exactly NINE months for one avocado to grow from a blossom to a ripened fruit! The avocado provides nearly 20 essential nutrients, such as vitamins A, C, D, E, K and B vitamins as well as folate, potassium and. other minerals. Avocados are rich in healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids. Studies have found that these fats balance women's hormones and help to put on good healthy fat during pregnancy. Avocados have been shown to help in ovulatory fertility problems and they can triple a couple's chances of conception through IVF.

A study by Harvard School of Public Health showed that avocados and olive oil could help women trying to conceive through IVF. They could triple their chances of conception (due to the mono-unsaturated fat in theses foodstuffs). Women hoping to conceive have been advised to eat an avocado every day.

A study published in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology found that eating monounsaturated fats, such as avocado and olive oils, have been shown to help in ovulatory fertility problems.
