Homeopathic consultations are very different from a visit to a GP. Before your visit, we ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire. The first consultation takes 1 – 1/2 hours. During this time your case history is thoroughly taken — physical, mental and emotional symptoms are all taken into account along with personal tendencies, past medical history and family history, general energy levels, diet, sleep, and lifestyle along with any complaints and details of how you experience them. This is to gain an in-depth understanding of your complete state of health.

Expect questions relating to

  • your current symptoms
  • past medical history,
  • diet & lifestyle,
  • sleep
  • mental and emotional aspects in your life

After the consultation Leah will spend time studying and preparing an analysis of these notes before making your first prescription. We then arrange a time at the end of the first consultation for you to collect your homoeopathic remedy, or arrange for delivery.

Follow up visits

The first follow up appointment may be two to six weeks after taking the initial remedy depending on your individual circumstances and takes 30 – 40 minutes. Subsequent appointments will vary between 2 1⁄2 to 4 months but are dependent on your condition. This will ensure that you receive the best homoeopathic care.

Follow up appointments are an essential part of your homeopathic treatment in order to review, evaluate and monitor your response to the homeopathic medicine as well as allow to make any changes to the prescription if indicated.  Any changes in your energy level, physical and emotional wellbeing are important to note and help to ensure that improvements in your health & wellbeing are maintained.

How a you responds to the homeopathic medicine can vary from either an increased sense of well being and marked improvement to just a mild amelioration. In some cases there could be a slight intensification of existing symptoms before it gets better. Some clients may find certain old symptoms coming up such as an old suppressed discharge or a mild skin rash. Leah provides ongoing support to her clients and encourages regular contact by phone or email to keep track of the treatment progress between consultations.  After you have taken the homeopathic medicine for 3 days Leah will ask you to contact her by phone to briefly discuss your response to the medicine.

Treatment Length

In chronic or acute conditions that occur regularly, the nature of the condition and the length of time it has been experienced can change how often you will need to see the Leah. Generally you will visit two to four weeks after your first consultation and then once every four weeks to six weeks depending on your condition and the progress experienced in your condition.

Acute Conditions

A visit to treat an acute condition i.e. a cold, flu or sprain may take as little as 20 minutes and requires much less detail. The types of conditions that can be treated in an acute clinic are those that naturally have a short life span such as colds, flu, skin irritations, teething problems & colic in babies, mastitis, tummy aches, sore throat, earache, back pains, hangovers and minor injuries such as cuts, bruises and sprains.

Consultations for children

Leah will be interested in the mother’s physical and emotional state before and during the pregnancy; the pregnancy and the birthing experience; vaccines given and any reactions that took place; the time it took for the infant to reach milestones i.e. teething, walking and talking, and the presenting complaints.

Consultations for older children and teenagers

If the consultation involves discussing any sensitive issues such as behavioural problems, trauma, grief or other sensitive issues then it is best for the parent to make an appointment before the initial consultation with the child, or to bring a friend or family member to the appointment to take the child out for part of the consultation to allow for a discussion in private.
